‘Tis The Season…

[For excess carbs and calories…]

Christmas is coming, and you, dear Goose, might be worried about getting fat…

Firstly, if you like a pie, have a pie - it’s Christmas; and secondly, if abs are vital to you at this time of year, you can still enjoy that pie with two simple points…


1. Do some actual physical work.

2. Eat the majority of your carbs afterwards.


Nothing mindblowing there.

We ran a workout recently…

100 walking barbell lunges for time @ bodyweight.

[So if you weigh 60kg, you put 60kg on your back and get lungin’ - obviously the weight can be scaled up or down based on the individual...]

That is a workout that will deliver strong legs, a great arse and visible abs, along with a huge demand for glucose [carbs]... 

After that physical work, your metabolism will be elevated and the carbs you consume will be used to replenish your glycogen stores rather than added to your fat reserves. As a helpful bonus, carbs after training have been shown to reduce cortisol - a stress hormone - the reduction of which can improve body composition over time...

As for carb choices, you can’t go too far wrong with bananas, rice and sweet potatoes post workout, however, if you are going to choke down a load of mince pies and alcohol, now is the best time to do so [from a body composition standpoint...].
