There is a certain bliss when completely immersed in what you are doing. There are no thoughts of money, relationships, past ‘disgraces’ [loads…] or plans for the future, just a pure and true focus - a dedication to that one activity, then and there in that one moment in time.
3 rounds for time: - 100 foot prowler sprint - 100 foot sandbag carry *Load it with the intention of finishing around the 2 minute mark with NO PACING ALLOWED.
When I finished this one my lungs, legs, and even my tongue hurt… And yet, there in that workout, and in the few minutes following, that was a place in my life where all the pressures, plans and problems had stopped. The daily repetitive toils, the Sisyphean endeavours, all done for some far off purpose simply did not exist.
I suspect this is Blackbrook Method’s most underrated benefit.
True, the health benefits are enormous.
True, the body composition changes are incredibly sexy.
True, the testicular fortitude instilled is invaluable.
And it’s true, everything we do is practical and transfers over incredibly well to real life…
But the focus, and the immersion, and the endorphins, and the music, and the growth, and the atmosphere, and the bliss of completing that workout and all the workouts like it is as rejuvenating and refreshing as… As… As I don’t know what... But it’s just so f***ing great to shut the voices off for a while...
I train alone these days, but I do remember what it is like to train with other people… You get the right weather, the right music, the right people, and it’s the most energetic, life-affirming, driven atmosphere… And I am not, nor have I ever been, surprised when people fall in love with it.
