What Do All Winners Have In Common?

Systems

A goal is defined as an object of a person’s aim or effort; an aim or desired result.

A system is defined as a set of principles or procedures according to which something is done; an organized scheme or method.

Already, most of you can see which will be more effective at getting you from A to B...

Let’s dig a little deeper, using the desired outcome of losing 20lbs of body fat as an example.

CrossFit Blackbrook is a system that will get you from your current performance to your target performance, and your current weight to your target weight.

We utilize the best systems because we need to deliver the best results: the programming is intelligent, the 10 point nutrition system is up and in full swing, you do not need to worry about anything, just make that one decision and show up.

What’s cool though is that in the process of using our system you will learn new skills and form new relationships that directly transfer over to and benefit your life:

- How to move safely and efficiently, with and without load.
- Strong relationships are formed with other members: physios, policemen, accountants, etc.
- How to perform basic maintenance (look after your joints, muscles, etc) on yourself.
- What eating habits to adopt
- How to commit and how to prioritise
- How certain foods affect your hormones, body composition, mood, etc
- Skill transfer of a pull up to the climbing wall, and from the climbing wall to the mountains...
- Which supplements are worth taking, and which are a scam (most of them…)
- New desired outcomes will emerge (10 pull ups, double bodyweight squat, etc)
- And so on and so forth…

Compare this with just the goal of losing 20lbs… So no system, no plan in place, no direction:
- Today, I’ll eat a salad instead of a baguette.
- Tomorrow, I might go for a run if I wake up early enough...
- Maybe I’ll look up some weight loss pills on Amazon this week.

Even with a worst case scenario where you don’t hit your target performance or weight, with a system you have a potent snowball effect: skills and relationships develop, and your life improves significantly as a result… With just a goal, you have a series of small short term goals you may or may not have ticked off - goals like: eat a salad, maybe go for a run, buy some mystery pills…

Simply put, with a system there are some seriously cool consolation prizes - better movement, new friends, healthier habits, skill transfer, playing with the kids becomes easier, work becomes less tiring, that elbow pain went away… With a goal, there is no consolation prize if you don’t make it, only failure… And since a goal isn’t a plan, failure is quite likely.

It is all about systems!

This isn't the video, but I bet you clicked it anyway, didn't you...
If the commitment is to a system and not a series of smaller intermediate goals, then only one initial decision needs to be made and adhered to... This is clear, simple, straightforward, and far easier to maintain than having to make a series of small decisions to stay the course, which will provide far too many opportunities to stray from your chosen goal.

Systems are what will get you from A to B... They will get you to your target weight, your target lifts, your target income, all while providing significant and welcome side benefits…

We have an excellent system right here waiting for you. Get in touch.
