“How To Lose Weight And Keep It Off...”

Since losing weight and keeping it off with minimal effort is what peaks everyone’s interest, I figured I’d write about it…  


If you are four stone overweight and decide to jump head first into a diet based on real foods and begin some sort of exercise regimen - preferably one based on functional movements and well thought out conditioning sessions - one year later you will look and feel like a completely different person. We all know this is true: if you live like a healthy, active person you will become a healthy, active person. The opposite is also true: if you live like an unhealthy, inactive person, you will become an unhealthy, inactive person.

People think the key to losing weight involves some sort of trickery - some magical solution known only to a few. It doesn’t, and it isn't. Someone who is four stone overweight isn’t unlucky, stricken with the mysterious ailment called obesity - he or she is an obese person. He or she has become that through his or her actions. We all became what we are right here and now by our past actions.

If this seems offensive to some of you, just remember that you are only being informed that you are a product of your own choices and actions. If this seems obvious to some of you, good... It is obvious...

When someone loses the extra four stone of weight you need to realize that that person has become a person with a normal body weight simply by living like one; they are not a magician who has unlocked the secret to living like an obese person without the obesity to show for it... There is no magic trick here - the person is at this new body weight because it is who they have become over time as a result of their actions.

Now, there are some really cool methods of speeding up this fat loss, but these too require effort and sacrifice… Effort to research, effort to implement, effort to stay on track even when you really don’t want to… And of course, they do not work at all without living a healthy lifestyle… Sorry to break it to you...


It should all be quite clear by now, but just in case you are still confused at all about why your body, health and fitness is in it’s current state - good or bad - let me clear it up for you...

You have earned exactly who you are.

We all became what we are right here and now by our past actions. 

- If you’ve got muscle ups - you’ve earned them. Simple as.
- If you have a triple bodyweight deadlift - you’ve earned it. Simple as.
- If you are four stone overweight - you’ve earned it. Simple as.

Here’s the cool part… Since this is all true, it means you get to pick your future.

- You can choose today and every day how you are going to live, what goals to pursue, and what systems to use to get you there.
- You can choose to follow a nutrition system outlined by your coach, or you can eat a bag of peanut M&Ms…
- You can choose to train at CrossFit Blackbrook, or you can watch TV instead...

You can choose where you will be one year from now... Try not to f*** it up.
